Carstramon House and cottages are set in Galloway, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, three miles outside Gatehouse of Fleet, in the Fleet River valley.
The estate adjoins the 90 hectare Carstramon Wood, owned by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, and considered one of the most beautiful bluebell woods in the UK, if not in Europe.
The surrounding countryside is filled with deer, red squirrels, stoats, foxes, hedgehogs and badgers. Woodpeckers, pied flycatchers and wood warblers fill the air with song in Spring, and bats, both long eared and pipistrelle, wheel through the air at dusk. Eagles patrol the sky from time to time.
On clear nights, thousands of stars can be seen from the garden. Carstramon lies close to the Galloway Forest Park which is one of only five places in the world, and the only place in the UK, with international recognition as a Dark Sky Area.
